The Brothers behind the business

With over 70 years combined experience, working with a vast range of classic cars, when you choose Crown Classic Cars, you are trusting that the knowledge and expertise we have, is borne from the same shared passion you have as an owner. Honesty, integrity and authenticity are what we stand for.

Tony

Tony always messed around with cars from a very early age with his earliest memory being rebuilding his sister's mini. He left school at 15 and got a job at Alan Lloyd Motors, an independent Jaguar specialist.

He then moved to Cox & Buckles, the foremost TR & MG specialists in Richmond, Surrey. now known as Moss Europe, one the leading parts specialist in the world and the main supplier to Crown Classic Cars. Tony learned is trade there for a further 7 years, specialising in bodywork & restoration, being taught by one of the original Triumph bodywork experts. From there he continued for a further 2 years with another leading Triumph specialist.

Jay

Jay’s interest in cars started with his Dad, when growing up, he had a constant supply of old Jags and Austin Rovers to tinker with.  His earliest memory was washing his Dad's Jaguar on a Sunday for pocket money and an overriding memory of a phone attached to a CB radio.

When his brother worked at a Jaguar specialist, it sparked Jay's interest in cars further. He got a work experience job at Cox & Buckles, got the bug and was taught how to strip and rebuild engines, gearboxes and everything to do with TRs. At 18, Jay became workshop manager and learned everything about running a workshop, knowledge he took with him to set up Crown Classic Cars a few years later.

In Sept 1989, the brothers decided to go it alone, and set up Crown Classic Cars, taking their combined experience and love Triumph and MGs and turning in to one of the UK's leading classic car specialists. For over 30 years, they successfully built the business from a small unit in Twickenham, servicing customers of both classic and modern cars. However, classic British sports cars are in their blood and in 2015, they heavily invested in the business and moved to larger premises. The new workshop allowed them to provide a more complete service, in-house, with state of the art facilities and giving them the space to securely service an increased number of customers, solely focussed on repairing and restoring all types of TRs and MGs, whilst still remaining a truly personal business
